Haikus (:

Winter

Frost on my windows
The wind blowing on my face
Its making me cold

Chicken

It tastes very nice
Deep fry or roast, its all good
I like it a lot (:

Internet

Lots of sites to surf
Some sites we shouldn't go on
But we all still do =D

I chose to write a few haikus instead of a short poem, just for a bit of variety and I like haikus. I wrote a haiku about winter because that is the season we are in right now. My haiku about chicken shows that I like chicken (:, I was also feeling hungry at the time I wrote the poem. I wrote a poem about the internet because it is very important in our lives. Without internet we wouldn't be able to do all the research we do to complete our homework. It is a very important and useful tool.

I didn't use any particular poetry techniques in my haikus. I hope you like reading my poems. Enjoy =P

Werewolf

The forest seemed to die, all life disappeared,

Suddenly cold like the cliffs of Everest.

Everything was in hiding, hiding from the prowling beast.

The deafening sound of silence pounding through everyone’s heads

Sharp pearl whites looking to pierce through flesh,

Eyes searching, searching for a victim

Tearing through dark green bushes,

Through trees overgrown with moss, and vines, and more moss.

It was hungry, it was thirsty

Hungry and thirsty for blood

A gap in the trees, a little girl,

Perhaps it wouldn’t go hungry tonight.

The little girl’s heart was drumming,

like the opening moments of an African Dance Festival.

There was nowhere to hide, nowhere to run

Away, away from the forest she sprinted

Out of the woods,

There it came.

Out of the woods,

It pounced.

~ by Nick

This poem was written late at night, which inspired my dark forest scene. I felt a horror scene would be the best and easiest way to describe the dark night sky, rather than a poem on say, the stars. I tried to use imagery in my second line in the poem, I was hoping to give readers a chill with that line. I used words such as drumming and pounding, and then I mentioned an African Dance Festival, which I wrote to try make readers' hearts pound. In my last paragraph I used repetition to maximize effect. The poem overall was to show the fear a young girl felt as she gazed at the werewolf.

Chocolate

Chocolate is delicious,
One of many foods.
I always eat some chocolate,
When im in a bad mood.

It comes in different flavours,
Caramel, Double, Fudge.
Everyone has a favourite,
Which would you prefer?

Chocolate is delicious,
It has always been the best.
Ice-Cream, Lollies, Popcorn,
It's better than the rest.

Well I was eating chocolate just before I wrote this poem. Thinking of what to write about. And I wonder how this came into my mind =]
What I'm saying is that chocolate really is what everyone says it is.
Lucious, delicable, creamy and "better than the rest."
There is use of rhyme in the 1st and 3rd stanzas.
